Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor – Europe
(32-36 hrs/week, based in Utrecht, 1 year)

Solidaridad is an international network organization consisting of eight regional expertise centres located around the world (Asia, Southern Africa, East and Central Africa, West Africa, South America, Central America, North America and Europe), each with their own specific expertise and focus. 

In Solidaridad Europe, the Knowledge Management and Learning (KML) team aims at building knowledge to support the implementation of effective, efficient and relevant programming and to enable continuous improvement in the organization.

The KML team has three objectives:

  1. Solidaridad Europe staff is continuously learning and improving;
  2. Knowledge is shared and made accessible for all staff in the organisation;
  3. Quality evidence about the impact of our projects is collected, analysed, reported and used.

For this position we are looking for a Knowledge Management and Learning Advisor with a strong focus on Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL), who ideally is experienced enough to take on a coordinating role for the PMEL work in Solidaridad Europe.

Responsibilities

As Knowledge Manager & Learning Advisor you will:

  • Provide technical PMEL advice to colleagues in the Europe office regarding programme design (Theory of Change), key performance indicators, measurement plans, data collection tools, data recording, data analysis, reporting and follow up towards learning;
  • Facilitate strategic planning and learning sessions;
  • Design and coordinate external evaluations;
  • Capacitate colleagues and partners on PMEL through coaching and training;.
  • Develop knowledge products such as portfolio overviews, project fact sheets etc.
  • Follow external developments on relevant knowledge and research in order to make knowledge accessible and set up joint research projects; 

You will work closely with other KML team members, other core activity teams within Solidaridad Europe and program staff of other regional expertise centres of the Solidaridad Network. You report to the Head of KML in Europe and you will be part of the global Solidaridad PMEL team.

Candidate’s profile

You are inspired by the job and responsibilities as described above, and you recognize yourself in the following:

  • Experience in advising on planning, monitoring & evaluation;
  • Masters degree in development studies, international relations, biology, earth sciences, agronomy or another relevant education;
  • Affinity with the vision and mission of Solidaridad;
  • Reflective and learning competences, and drive for continuous improvement;
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills: skills in processing information and summarizing it in short papers and beautiful presentations;
  • Service-oriented, proactive and team player;
  • Pragmatic, flexible and autonomous;
  • Ability to connect and work with people from all backgrounds and cultures;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and excellent command of the English language;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Is allowed to work in the Netherlands.

    The following would be considered as a strong asset:
  • Experience in working with international staff from across the world;
  • Experience in working with a non profit organization;
  • Experience in working with a network organization;
  • Experience in providing capacity strengthening on PMEL and in monitoring & evaluating programmes.

  • An additional holiday allowance (standard in the Netherlands) will be paid to the employee in May of every calendar year. The holiday allowance is 8% of the gross salary earned in the contract period;
  • In addition, Solidaridad pays an end-of-year allowance equivalent to 8.3% of the gross annual salary earned;
  • Solidaridad offers a non-contributory pension plan;
